Although we had called to make a reservation, it really wasn't necessary - the park was empty when we arrived. We selected site 2. As you can see, all sites offer a grand view of the San Augustine Mountains. Date of visit: Dec 2011 |

Here is the whole row of sites, with the Community Center and bathhouse in the background. Each site has a large canopy over the picnic table and a raised grill. All the sites slant down toward the back, so that some leveling is necessary.. |

In front of the Community Center is a wide street with four 15-amp electrical boxes. This is the area used for overflow parking. |

The bathhouse is located at the far end of the Community Center. It is "sort of" heated, and although there was hot water at the sinks, there was no water in the showers. Although we reported this the day we arrived, it never got repaired before we left five days later. |

Right in front of the Community Center is a large play-ground, with all sorts of things for the kids to climb on. |

Beside the campground is a 1.5 mile walk/run/exercise trail, with a number of exercise stations spaced along it. |
Don't miss a visit to the Missile Museum and Park, located just inside the North Gate to the post. Lots of interesting artifacts on display, including this German V-2 rocket. |
