We arrived at noon on the last Friday of March....in the middle of spring break. We got one of about three sites left. All the waterfront sites were taken, but we found one with a view of the lake.

As you can see, site #2 is on the side of a hill and required some leveling. The wood deck gave us a pleasant spot to sit. I was able to get a decent satellite signal by placing our dish down at the foot of the platform. We were in Verizon's native digital area for high-speed internet access.

Here is a view showing the wooded sites along the lake shore. All sites offer W/E (30A)/TV hookups.

Another
view of some waterfront sites. The white trailer in the middle is
on site #70. |

This gives you a feel for the overall shadiness of the campground. |

We decided
that site #49 was the El Primo site - nicely shaded right on the water's
edge, and private. |

Here are
some of the sites back away from the water. But even from here you
can see the lake. There are quite a few pull-through sites available. |

One of the
more modern of the four bathhouses scattered through the CG. Our loop
had one of the older ones, which provided the basics, but was a bit
dated. |

Twenty cottages
are available for rent. They are along the lakeshore and some have
docks in front where you can tie up your boat. Ten of the cottages
are being renovated this spring. |

This is
the main boat launch near the park office. There is another located
in the camping area. |

Tugaloo has a well-developed day-use area, centered around a large beach. There are several pavilions, lots of picnic tables, and this play area nearby. |

There are two fairly new tennis courts near the beach, and also a miniature golf course. For hikers, there are several miles of trails around the peninsula.

Tugaloo State Park is located in northeast Georgia, just off I-85 on the shore of Hartwell Lake. Boating, swimming, fishing, camping, and hiking are among the recreational activities available
