Sandy Creek COE Campground

Arriving on a Sunday in mid-March, we had no problem finding a site. We chose #21, with its view of Steinhagen Lake. Date of visit: Mar 07 |

Down
in the main camp loop, this shows sites 23-24. |

An overall
view of the main campground loop. A nice mix of shade and sun. |

Site 64 in the foreground, with the camper on site 63. In the background is a fishing pier. |

Sites 74 and 76 on the left, 76 on the right. |

This nicely
shaded playground is located in the main camp loop. |

The bathhouse
in the main loop. A little dated, it does offer hot showers. |
![]() |
Here's one of the boat ramps. Just a slight problem: no water. It seems the dam is under repair and the lake had to be drained. |

Along
the road from the gatehouse to the main camp loop are several spots
with just a site or two. The motorhome is on 23, which I would place
as the most attractive site in the park. |

This
is site 12, just a short distance in from the gatehouse. |
![]() |
There
is a separate camp loop, called the Old Folks Loop, about a mile from
the gatehouse. These are sites 35-37. |
![]() |
The most
scenic site in the Old Folks loop is #41. |
![]() |
The
Old Folks bathhouse is a bit shabby inside and does not have showers. |

Right
beside our site, #21, is another fishing dock. All we needed was some
water for the fish. |

The
dry lake bed offered this view of some cypress trees left high and
dry. |

Sunset
over the lake. |
