Located on North Conway's infamous "Strip", the Saco River Camping Area offers a pleasant respite from the area's hustle and bustle. The Saco River flows right by the campground, offering great summer recreation in the form of swimming, tubing, canoing and kayaking. Mountain climbing/hiking, golf, restaurants, and, of course, all those outlet shops are nearby.

Entering the campground, the office is the first building you come to. First impressions count - buildings and grounds are all well-maintained. Date of Visit: May '06 |

There
are a good number of pull-through sites - here we are on #14. Pairs
of the pull-through sites share the utility post, so when busy, rigs
will be parked in alternating directions. The main disadvantage of
this is that it puts the picnic table and firepit right beside your
neighbor - not so much privacy when sitting out. |

One row
of sites is located along the bank of the river. |

Although most sites are shaded, this shows that they are not dark and dreary. |

There are
two playground areas in the campground, so the kids can have a great
time. In the distance is one of the two very clean bathhouses. There
are also horse-shoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts, and a
softball field. |

Don't have
a camping rig? Not a problem - there are two lean-to shelters available. |

Another view of typical sites. Most sites have full hookups (W/E/S/TV). A free wi-fi system is also available. Verizon Wireless National Access service is also available. |

There
is a small swimming pool located in the field near the office. |

Here's
the second bathhouse - very clean. |

The campground
abuts an Audubon Society reservation, which offers some pleasant walking
along the river. Word of caution: check for ticks when you get back
to your rig. We picked up several the afternoon we walked the trail. |

A view
of the Saco River along the path. I grew up in North Conway and spent
many a summer's day swimming in the Saco. |

There's a large pavilion located by the river. The CG also offers a safari area for groups.
