Although we have stayed here several times over the years, we did not spend the night this year.  After a visit to the nearby St Marks NWR, we stopped to take a few pictures. Shown here are sites 5 and 6.

Sites 7-14 are the primary RV sites with hookups.  Parking pads are slightly raised above the ground level - a good thing when it rains.  There was a lot of standing water left from rain several days before.

Sites 11-14.  Our impression was that the park has been cleaned up quite a bit.  When we first stayed here, it was a Newport city facility, but at some point Wakulla County took over its operation, and devoted some effort to improving the campground.

The bathhouse is nothing fancy, but serves the purpose adequately.  It appeared to be fairly clean and offers free showers.  I can't attest as to how hot they actually are.

In the center of the loop are two picnic pavilions and a small play area for the kids.

Right across from the campground is the entrance to St Marks NWR.  A leisurely 10-mile ride will bring you to the St Marks Lighthouse.  This light dates from 1830, and had an additional 10 feet added to it in 1883, putting its fourth-order Fresnel lens 80 feet above sea level. It has survived hurricanes and use by both sides during the Civil War. .
Much of the refuge is comprised of various pools - some salt water and some fresh.  During the spring and fall migration seasons this is a busy gathering place for serious birders.  Even at other times of the year, you'll see them out with their mega-telephoto lenses.
Farely common is the great blue heron.
One year we came across this flowering cactus.
