The lake is behind Navajo Dam. Access to the main campground area is by a road that climbs the dam and crosses that bridge atop the dam. Date of visit: Oct 2011 |

Here we are on site 34 in the Pines Campground, the primary RV area. We arrived without a reservation and had no trouble finding a nice site overlooking the lake. Reserveable sites are clearly marked, so it's easy to figure out from which sites you can choose. |

Sites 14 and 15. Many of the sites are rather sloped, so leveling can be a challenge. |

There are some nice tent sites out on a small point; however, the access road is pretty rough. These are sites 41 and 43. |

Site 77 is a large level site with a great view of the lake and marina. |

Most sites have a shade cabana over the table; site 56 is not one of them. |

The campground can get rather crowded since campers are allowed to bring their boats into the campground. |

The bathhhouses are fairly modern and clean. Free hot showers are available; however, the shower stalls lack shower curtains and space, so it's hard to keep your clothes from getting wet. |

A short distance north of the Pines Campground are three primitive camping loops, Pinon, Cedar and Juniper. RV's are not allowed in the Pinon loop, hot showers are available in the Cedar Loop. This is a view of the Cedar loop. |

There are some very nice waterfront sites, such as 112 in the Cedar Loop. There are two other campgrounds in the park: Cottonwood is located downstream from the dam, and Sims Mesa Campground is on the east side of the lake. |
