We arrived on a Tuesday morning before lunch, and there were plenty of sites to choose from.  We selected site 16, which looks out over one end of Lake Stone.

Date of visit: Mar 2010

The park is quite open and sunny with some pine trees scattered throughout.  Sites 1-15 are to the left, and sites 69-76 on the right.

I'd consider sites 20-28 the prime sites, being out at the end of the point overlooking the lake.

The empty sites at the left are 59-61, and 28-34 are on the right side of the road, backing up to an inlet.  Several campers had their boats tied up right behind their rigs.

These boats are behind the rigs in the above picture, while across the inlet is the boat ramp.

Sites 53-48.
There's a very nice new pavilion and bathhouse in the center of the campground.  The bathhouse is small, but was quite clean with free hot showers.  Unfortunately the pavilion is kept locked all the time to keep kids from playing inside.  A shame, for it would be a great place for campers to gather on rainy days or for morning coffee.  Guess I'll have to send a note to the county commissioners.

There are two paved handicapped sites, 58 and 57, right beside the pavilion and bathhouse. .

Lake Stone was built by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Department as a fishing lake.  Only electric motors are allowed.  This fishing pier is located behind the sites at the end of the point.
While Pop is fishing, Mom can watch the kids playing in the middle of the campground.

Here's an overall view of the campground taken from near the boat launch ramp.

Lake Stone County Park, FL

Lake Stone County Park is located in the northwest corner of Florida, 2 miles west of Century on Hwy 4.  It's a very pleasant park, nicely maintained and not too expensive.  Sites are fairly close together, but with few campers here at the time of our visit, it was quiet and peaceful.
