Because of spring vacation camping activity, we had made a reservation a week ago.  A couple of weeks ago we had a neighbor who highly recommended site 52, so that's we ended up.  He was right - an excellent site at the end of the campground right on the bank of the waterway, with all its barge traffic.

Date of visit: Mar 2010

Sites 52-49 are at the end of the camp road and are the only sites directly on the Tombigbee.

Sites 43-42.

Sites 39-36 are on Foscue Creek.

Sites 25-27.

Looking across the creek at sites 3, 5, 6 and 7.
Sites 23-20.

Sites 7-1 are the loop nearest the campground entrance.  The creek is just beyond them.

Sites 42, 43, 24-22.
Sites 13 and 12 are among the five that do not provide sewer hookups.

The few sites that are not on the water are still very pleasant sites.  Here are sites 31-30.

One of the two bathhouses in the campground.  It provides hot showers and has a small laundry facility ($1.00 per load).
There are two playgrounds in the campground proper and over in the day-use area a new play area is being installed.
A number of barges came by our site during our stay, such as this coal-laden string.
And there were some empty barges heading upriver.
Across from the day-use area is a small Coast Guard station, not exactly what one would expect to find in the middle of Alabama.
