In the center of the campground is this older bathhouse, which offers free hot showers. However, the park apparently has a long-term problem with water and there was no water available at the time of our visit. |

There are 31 of these mobile homes that can be rented. |

There are also 10 very small cabins for rent. |

Check-in is at the office/campstore. The staff are very pleasant and professional folks. |

A short walk from the campground is the beach. With the lake level so low, there is certainly plenty of beach area. |

The children's play area even has a shade canopy for hot summer days. |

There's quite a bath-tub ring around Canyon Lake. |

Across the highway is the Sunnyside area, formerly the Randolph AFB Rec Area. There is a smaller campground there with 9 cement-pad, full hook-up sites. These are sites 1-4 on the right, 9 on the left. |

JBSA Canyon Lake Rec Area, TX
Joint Base San Antonio's Canyon Lake Recreation Area is located on the northeast side of Canyon Lake about 50 miles north of San Antonio. Operated by the Dept of Defense, the facility is restricted to use by active duty and retired military personnel.
