The biggest thing about Assateague SP is the total lack of shade. I spent the days slowly moving my chair around our camper to stay in the shade.

Date of visit: May 1993

The other big thing about Assateague are the supposedly wild horses that roam freely through the campground. This guy was ignoring the the directional arrow on the road.

And the deer wander past as well.

I'm not sure what Liz was looking at here.

More horses.

This is a great place for beach lovers, where they'll find miles of beautiful sand.

This gives you a pretty good feel for the camping sites.

Late afternoon sun.
Someone spent a lot of time building this large castle complex.

Assateague SP, MD

Assateague SP is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore a few miles south of Ocean City. Our visit was back in 1993, and I'm afraid I wasn't as careful about taking campground notes then as I am today. So I can't give many details, but I did want to share the pictures.
