We have stopped here a number of times for lunch and to park while we wander the city. Date of visit: Jan 2010 |

The park is just about under the bridge that spans the Apalachicola River. |
Besides the marina, the park merely consists of a large open area of grass and gravel. Across the marina are a couple of small pavilions and a playground. With just a little work and expense, the city could establish a great little municipal campground in a prime location. |

A walkway goes along each side of the marina. |
It's a only a short walk from the park to the center of town, where one finds the historic Gibson Hotel. |
Fort Coombs Armory was built in 1901. |
Apalachicola's main thoroughfare and side streets are lined with small shops and restaurants. This is definitely the place for seafood, as working fishing boats still dock here. |

Battery Park & Marina
Apalachicola, FL
Battery Park and Marina, city-owned, is located on the Apalachicola waterfront at the mouth of the Apalachicola River. Although we have not spent the night here, I have seen some internet posts that indicate overnight parking is allowed; a sign in the park would tend to confirm that.
